>>177526John D. Macari Jr. @JohnDMacari - As I have since being forced to retire from the NYPD for refusing to take a vaccine I already had antibodies for, I will be brutally honest regardless of the bridges it burns or the further professional and financial harm it causes me.
While NYPD investigators remain among the best in the world, the NYPD leadership who planned today’s event failed miserably.
Let me be perfectly clear.
My criticism is directed squarely at @NYPDPC Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch and Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence & Counterterrorism Rebecca Weiner.
Neither ever wore the uniform. Today showed exactly why it matters, why those who lead police officers should have actually walked in their shoes.
All the Harvard degrees, political connections, polished social media posts, and prewritten speeches cannot hide what the world saw today:
The NYPD looked like unprepared amateurs.
The reality is that an anarchist was able to deploy TWO homemade explosive devices, which thankfully failed.
Yesterday on The Finest Unfiltered we discussed how hesitant and inexperienced the NYPD appeared when officers confronted a masked man in Times Square carrying what appeared to be an assault rifle that turned out to be a toy.
Our stream where we were educating officers and the public about what the proper response should have been was pulled off YouTube despite violating no rules.
We warned that hesitation and lack of preparation leaves innocent New Yorkers and first responders vulnerable.
For over two years we warned about the dangers of the protest settlement agreement and why the Strategic Response Group is necessary at EVERY protest, especially events like today where allowing opposing groups to merge guarantees violence and chaos.
Today proved that point.
The event organized by provocateur @JakeLang was widely reported including by @ViralNewsNYC, who warned that anarchists were planning to attend and deploy violence.
So what was the plan from the Police Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence?
Worry about overtime and send Community Affairs officers, instead of deploying in force, right from the beginning, the Strategic Response Group, plainclothes units, and counterterrorism resources, the units specifically designed for exactly this type of scenario.
