Mayor Brandon Johnson @ChicagosMayor - On this final day of service for my friend, Reverend Jesse Jackson, Sr., I am reminded of why he called Chicago home for most of his life. His mentor, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., tasked Reverend Jackson with establishing a frontline for the Civil Rights Movement in Chicago and developing a Northern Strategy for their struggle. For over 60 years, he tirelessly organized throughout Chicago in the pursuit of justice and has left the Rainbow PUSH coalition to carry on those efforts.
His legacy is, without question, a more just city and nation.
