Tom Fitton @TomFitton - OUTRAGEOUS BEYOND BELIEF: @FBIDirectorKash's FBI is twisting the Trump administration’s $4.975 MILLION Ashli Babbitt wrongful death settlement to try to shut down her family’s FOIA lawsuit seeking the FBI’s own records on Ashli.
Ashli Babbitt was the ONLY official homicide victim on Jan 6. Her family brought the wrongful death lawsuit that the Trump administration settled.
Now 8 months later, the FBI claims the settlement somehow blocks the FOIA case.
The FBI just told a federal court it “has been aware for several months” of the settlement but only “recently determined” it supposedly bars the FOIA case.
But the settlement itself says it was “solely for the purpose of compromising disputed claims under the Federal Tort Claims Act.” In other words: wrongful death claims. Not FOIA.
Will the abuse of Ashli and her family every stop?
