Most Americans are taught in school young, Communism was an overblown threat because of Senator Joseph McCarthy. As a child, I remember being shown a movie in history class, how McCarthy was a crazy man and Communists were not threats.
A small but increasing number of us realize that McCarthy was right about the Communist threat.
