Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd @PolkCoSheriff - On Tuesday, April 14th, at around 2 am, Deputy Fontanez conducted a traffic stop on a bicyclist in Wahneta on Rifle Range Road.
As the deputy was getting out of the patrol car, the bicyclist began to dismount and started looking around.
Deputy Fontanez recognized the man's body language as an indicator that he was preparing to flee, so Fontanez warned him not to run.
The man stayed put.
During the stop, Deputy Fontanez identified the bicyclist as 32-year old Logan Grooms, and discovered that Grooms had an active Polk County warrant for Violation of Probation (Burglary and Felony Petit Theft).
Grooms was ArrestedByThePolkCountySheriffsOffice and taken to the Sheriff's Processing Center to be booked-in on the warrant.
It was there that Grooms told Fontanez that he decided not to run from the traffic stop because the deputy, "looked like a fast runner."
By not running, Logan Grooms saved himself an additional charge of resisting.
