US Oil & Gas Association @US_OGA - Time for a "more you know" moment.
We will do so using Congressman Swalwell as an example.
In the oil and gas world, venting and flaring are the industry's primary methods of releasing built-up pressure out before it causes a disaster.
Venting quietly releases natural gas while flaring sets that gas on fire because sometimes the build up is so large and dangerous only way to handle excess methane is to quickly give it a Viking funeral.
Both of these methods are highly regulated by state and federal governments.
In the Congressman's situation, pressure had been building, the safety valves failed, resulting in uncontrolled release of methane.
Had it been burned - aka "flared' that certainly would have been something to see on live television. In this case it was vented.
And now you know all about venting and flaring.

U.S. Secret Service @SecretService - Fake pop-up ads are stealing cryptowallets from unsuspecting victims. Operation Atlantic, a multi-national operation between the Secret Service, UK and Canadian law enforcement, identified 2,000 victims, froze $12 million in stolen cryptocurrency and shut down 120 criminal sites.
And it's not over yet: we're investigating another $33 million in suspected stolen cryptocurrency.
