White House Press Pool Reports @WHPressPool - VP Pool #4: Vance Remarks + Questions
Vice President Vance took the stage at about 5:45 with Andrew Kolvet instead of Erika Kirk, who Vance was scheduled to appear with. Kolvet says Erika Kirk had too many threats to attend the event.
Vance slams Erika’s attackers repeatedly without naming names. Repeatedly calls these attacks gross and disgusting.
He also shared that his oldest son was baptized into the Catholic Church on Easter Sunday.
He addresses the controversy between Pope Leo and President Trump. Criticizes Catholic clergy for attacking the administration on immigration without acknowledging the harms of illegal immigration. Discusses “more than a thousand years of just war theory.”
A protestor/student repeatedly yelled at the VP about genocide in Gaza. Vance responded to him by saying that Donald Trump solved the situation in Gaza, critiquing Joe Biden for allowing the situation to go on. The individual kept yelling and appears to have been escorted out.
On fraud: Vance says Dr. Oz called him from Los Angeles and said he was about to go "arrest some fraudsters.” Vance says "no amount of fraud is too big or too small” for investigation and prosecution.
Vance says he called Kash Patel on the way to Georgia about TPUSA Frontlines reporter Savannah Hernandez, who was attacked covering protests this week. Vance says Patel promised to look into the attack and to investigate the left wing groups involved.
The VP calls on young people to avoid becoming "too blackpilled." Encourages young people to "get more info" and make their voices heard when the administration isn't doing what they want. Specifically touches on how voters are concerned about the administration's policies on the Middle East. "Don't get disengaged because you disagree with the administration on one topic."
On the SAVE Act - Vance says there are far more people sponsoring the legislation than previously, but still not enough. "The answer to frustration is engagement. Don't give up on this process, get more involved in this process…and demand more from people like me."
On Iran: Trump has told Iran "if you are willing to act like a normal country, we are willing to treat you economically like a normal country." Says Trump really wants a deal where the people of Iran can thrive and prosper and enjoy the world economy, IF Iran can commit to not having a nuclear weapon.
On Iran's negotiators: "The United States had never had meetings at that level with the Iranian government in 49 years…where you have the person who is effectively running the country in Iran sitting across from the Vice President of the U.S. After 49 years, there is a lot of distrust…"
On legal immigration: Discusses how American immigration and our legal system is taken advantage of. Says we have fraudulent asylum claims down around 90%.
