A pickup truck picked us up, we all sat in the bed, and headed to the terminal. This was toward the end of the Cold War. The Soviet crew all came out to watch us and I waved at them. They waved back at us like we were rock stars.
Got to the hotel, which was an all-inclusive gig, on the beach. Checked in, went down to the pool for a beer. They had a band playing on the pier and a buffet thing. During their break, my copilot decided to get on the drums and started playing “"In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.” No shit! RIP Jim Phillips. And he tore it up!
We met some Air Canada flight attendants at the pool and staggered over to a Senegalese “disco.” Dirt floors, the whole nine.
