Video: Strengthening vigilance across America’s maritime borders.
This week, the Coast Guard deployed the first PowerBuoy® system off the San Diego coast. This autonomous platform provides persistent surveillance and power, enhancing our maritime domain awareness far from shore.
This is where innovation meets vigilance. Through our continued modernization, we’re integrating state-of-the-art technology to strengthen maritime dominance and layered border security.

As part of its Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) mission, #USNORTHCOM stands ready to protect lives, property, and natural resources.
This week, April 20-24, military aircrews from the California Air National Guard's @146AirliftWing, Nevada Air National Guard's 152nd Airlift Wing, and Air Force Reserve's @302AirliftWing are conducting annual Modular Airborne Firefighting Systems (#MAFFS) recertification training at McClellan Airtanker Base in Sacramento, Calif., alongside the USDA Forest Service and CAL FIRE.
These elite crews and their C-130 Hercules aircraft are capable of dropping up to 3,000 gallons of fire retardant in less than 10 seconds— providing a critical surge capability to help slow the spread of devastating wildfires.
When all commercial air tankers are fully committed and when requested by the @NIFC_Fire, USNORTHCOM's unique military assets are prepared to respond quickly and effectively to minimize human suffering, protect lives and property.
Residents near the Tahoe National Forest may observe low-flying C-130 aircraft and lead planes throughout the week as practice water drops are conducted.
