Melissa Hallman @dotconnectinga - NEW : Just the News has identified the Ukraine impeachment's "Witness 2" as Gavin Wilde, a national security official who — while working at the Trump Defense Department and NSA in 2018 — published six articles promoting Russia collusion claims and calling for social media censorship, and who approvingly cited future Biden "Disinformation Czar" Nina Jankowicz as an expert.
Wilde's articles relied on the now-discredited "Hamilton 68" dashboard, which Twitter's own head of Trust and Safety internally concluded had falsely labeled legitimate right-leaning accounts as Russian bots.
Wilde also co-authored the flawed January 2017 intelligence community assessment on Russian election interference and worked with disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok prior to serving on Trump's National Security Council during the 2019 Ukraine impeachment saga. In that role, he supported the CIA whistleblower — identified in media reports as Eric Ciaramella — and played a critical role in helping the intelligence community watchdog advance the complaint.
The declassified memos also note one of Wilde's assigned jobs was to "secure the election in 2020."
His anti-Trump biases and his ties to Strzok were recorded by the IC Inspector General's team in 2019 but were concealed from congressional investigators during the impeachment proceedings.
