First glimpse of POTUS was as he entered the Zhongnanhai garden with Xi pool was not in position to see the arrival.
Xi was talking to Trump and POTUS was admiring the garden.
Chinese official then moved your pooler back from his position, saying Trump and Xi wanted to have a private discussion. No further details on that yet.

They will participate in a Friendship photo.
The walled gardens they are walking through are compact but beautiful with low walls, ornamented Chinese roofs, winding paths, roses in pink, yellow and red, manicured lawns and carefully tended trees. It’s so quiet you can hear birdsong, in contrast to much of the rest of Beijing. A clock chimed 11 as POTUS arrived. A Chinese minder told us it was a “very private place.”
Ahead of POTUS arrival there were several logistcial discussions between Chinese and US officials, with pool placings being apparently changed at the last minute.
The Zhongnanhai compound itself is huge and cut off from the outside world. Pool drove along the edge of a willow-bordered lake and Chinese minders escorted us to a well appointed holding room (we were then told that the room was meant to be for the president and moved).
Chinese minders told us no filming or photography until the event started.
