For fifty years, Indiana has led the way in upholding Title IX’s promise of equal athletic opportunity for women and girls. We have defended clear laws to preserve fair and safe women’s sports categories. Yet the NCAA, headquartered in our state, chose in 2022 to allow biological males to compete in women’s events, displacing female athletes from rosters, scholarships, and locker rooms. While it walked back much of this, more remains to be done to protect the hard-won progress and safety of our women collegiate athletes.
