Department of War CTO @DoWCTO - The @DeptofWar, in partnership with the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane, has officially released the Request for Solutions (RFS) for the 2026 Scaled Hypersonics (SHY) Critical Technology Area (CTA) Sprint opportunity. This sprint focuses on the scalable production of hypersonic glide vehicles and the advanced manufacturing of solid rocket motors.
The SHY CTA seeks innovative and cost-effective solutions for hypersonic weapons. The goal is to deliver unmatched speed, precision, and survivability at scale in order to strengthen America’s lethal Arsenal of Freedom. Current systems face significant production bottlenecks due to specialized manufacturing, difficult-to-manufacture materials, manual processing, fragile supply chains, and complex assembly, integration, and testing obstacles.

During the visit, Dr. Jewell toured the VKI laboratories and had the opportunity to discuss international cooperation in science and technology.
