Department of War CTO @DoWCTO - The @DeptofWar Advanced Materials Office, in partnership with @NAVSEACrane, has officially released the Advanced Technology Development opportunity for Critical Low-Risk Electro-optic Alternatives for Resilience (CLEAR). Executed via the S2MARTS Other Transaction Agreement and the NSTXL consortium, this opportunity will sponsor three performers over 24 months with a total investment of $7.5 million to accelerate the development of alternative optical materials supporting electro-optic and infrared (EO/IR) systems.
IR technology provides critical battlefield awareness for nearly every military platform and is essential for guiding munitions and enabling advanced missile maneuvers. As the United States works to expand domestic production of specialized materials, the CLEAR program seeks to mature novel IR lens materials that strengthen supply chain resilience and deliver next-gen, high-performance alternatives. Successful projects will transition from the lab directly into surveillance equipment, weapon systems, and other critical IR applications to support a secure and robust industrial base.

DOW Rapid Response @DOWResponse - Last week, a proposed list of simplified faith codes was released to the media. The Pentagon list included redundant and unnecessary labeling, and the mistake has been fixed.
The goal of this effort is to simplify a previously out-of-control “belief” coding system that had ballooned to over 200 codes.
In order to clarify the work of chaplains, and simplify the work of commanders, the Pentagon has consolidated and simplified the list to roughly thirty codes — using the previously used labels for faiths.
The Pentagon’s job is not to adjudicate theological debates, but instead to ensure sincerely-held faith is respected and encouraged in our ranks.
