Joey Jones @Johnny_Joey - I went to college in a go go gadget chair 2 months after injury using a microphone to transcribe notes and papers. I got up at 5am to do therapy at 7am, then went to work at 10am till 4pm, then school 6-10pm 3-4 days a week. On the weekends I volunteered for non profits trying to learn new skill sets. I moved to Texas after college and took a $50/yr job. I did Fox for free for 6 years before I signed… I did all of that for 8 years before I accepted a mortgage free home as well. I have been blessed no doubt. But if all of that is luck, I’d trade all my luck for a set of real legs and 15 years of my life back with no media career in a heartbeat. If all of that is “lucky” I imagine any veteran with average intelligence and half a body has an opportunity to be pretty damn lucky too!

You got pretty lucky in my opinion. The trouble is finding a good job. You can do the GI Bill and add it to military experience. It may not make a difference. I am not sure if you could make on a dock. Moreover, when you get older your feet and back...Freight waits no man!
