The White House is reportedly weighing "250 pardons for 250 years," just in time for America's Fourth of July anniversary.
But instead of going through DOJ's Pardon Attorney office, attorneys, lobbyists, and unqualified middlemen are promising access for $1-2 million a case.
"It is general knowledge in our practice that for $2 million, you can have a pardon," one white-collar defense attorney said.
Among those under consideration: a fugitive wanted in a multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, and a Grammy-winning musician convicted of helping cover it up.
What was supposed to be clemency is starting to look more like... an auction.
