At the school, a staff member insisted, "It's just me and the police here. Everyone is gone for the summer." James walked outside to find the police car. There wasn't one.
He questioned a faculty member about “Mx.” Segal and our investigation, but was met only with "No comment," followed moments later by an employee introducing herself as "a banker." What an interesting role at a middle school...
A concerned parent joined James as they went from one Clark County School District office to the next looking for answers. One employee vaguely recognized James before directing the team to another administrative building.
By the time James arrived, administrators were fleeing the school grounds around 3:00 PM. They said they were "looking into it" while continuing to walk away without stopping to answer simple questions.
The district had every opportunity to respond after one of its teachers acknowledged disregarding district policy. Instead, officials declined to answer questions and walked away.
Parents deserve transparency from the public school system entrusted with educating their children.

Herridge is refusing to reveal her source in her 2017 reporting on an FBI counterintelligence Investigation into Dr. Yanping Chen. Govt was concerned the school Chen founded was used to obtain info from US Military Personnel. Chen was never charged. Chen sued the FBI under privacy act and subpoenaed Herridge seeking identity of her source.
Herridge is arguably the only person who knows the source. Without her testimony, Chen may have no way of proving who violated the privacy act. There is a fascinating tension here between Chen’s being wronged by the FBI, and the Herridge’s 1st rights to inform you about the matter.
Supremes only refused to pause the DC contempt sanction of 800 dollars a day for Herridge not complying. This doesn’t establish precedent and Justices may hear case eventually. (Kavanaugh indicated he would have granted the stay.)
Bottom line is I think Congress needs to pass a reporter shield law. (Congress won’t do jack). Therefore Herridge should stick to her guns. If the United States Supreme Court were to order Herridge to reveal her source she should tell the court they are in error and refuse to comply.
