Craig Caplan @CraigCaplan - Thune from Senate floor today: "Yesterday afternoon, Democrats voted against the National Defense Authorization Act, the annual bill that authorizes spending for our nation’s defense. Their ostensible excuse was the conflict in Iran. Well, in case they were operating under a misconception, I am happy to tell them that this year’s National Defense Authorization Act is not an Iran funding supplemental."

Craig Caplan @CraigCaplan - Schumer from Senate floor today: "Democrats voted unanimously against the NDAA, unanimously, because the belief of our caucus is wide and deep: Congress cannot continue business as usual on the annual defense bill when Trump is actively escalating one of the worst national security disasters in American history. That’s what he’s doing. Trump can’t launch a directionless war, defy Congress’ bipartisan demand that it end, refuse to level with the American people about the cost, and then expect Democrats to follow quietly and vote all the money he wants to continue this absurdity."

50-46: Democrats blocked the $1.15T 2027 NDAA defense programs and policy bill from advancing in the Senate. 60 votes were needed. Thune changed his vote from Yes to No and entered a motion to reconsider to allow for a revote to take place. Senators Fetterman, Justice, McConnell and Padilla missed the vote.

Craig Caplan @CraigCaplan - Schumer on SAVE America Act: "I’ll say it as many times as it takes: the SAVE Act is dead on arrival here in the Senate. I don’t care how Republicans try to package their plan to resurrect the old ghost of Jim Crow – we will kill it...Republicans ought to do themselves a favor and bury the SAVE Act once and for all."

Craig Caplan @CraigCaplan - House Minority Whip Clark today announces she'll vote Yes on the Massie (R-KY) anti-Israel funding amendment to 2027 State Dept. spending bill: "We should not provide a blank check for military aid to any country that does not comply with U.S. law, interests, and values. The Netanyahu gov't has failed to meet that standard. I will be voting yes, not because I agree with the entirety of the amendment, or the GOP’s cynical motivations for its consideration, but because I believe we must change course. While Democratic Members will make different decisions on this amendment in good faith, we are absolutely united in our shared goal of permanent peace."

House Minority Leader Jeffries sent a Dear Colleague letter to his Democratic colleagues yesterday that he’ll be voting No against the Massie anti-Israel funding amendment today as it would “restrict our country’s ability to confront Hamas, Hezbollah & other terrorist organizations in the region who are sworn enemies of both the U.S. & Israel.”
