U.S. Northern Command @USNorthernCmd - MAFFS Activated for Wildfire Response ✈️🔥
Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System (MAFFS) aircraft have been activated to support federal and state wildfire suppression efforts in California. Two MAFFS-equipped C-130s from the 146th Airlift Wing (@146AirliftWing ) mobilized to Santa Maria, with our local 302nd Airlift Wing (@302AirliftWing) arriving to take over operations out of San Bernardino.
As U.S. Northern Command’s air component, Air Forces Northern (@1stAF) oversees the MAFFS Air Expeditionary Group (AEG)—led this year by the 152nd Airlift Wing—delivering specialized surge capabilities to support civilian incident commanders when commercial resources are fully committed.
