>>188321Scanner Traffic-- Fort Worth @ScannerRadioDFW - Lakeside Police Department
On the evening of Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the Lakeside Police Department took an individual into custody following a dangerous series of events that began with a traffic violation and ended with a bomb squad investigation.
https://facebook.com/share/p/1Q7TQJU2mf/At approximately 9:31 PM, officers observed a white sedan traveling westbound on the service road without its required headlamps illuminated. As officers moved to conduct a traffic stop, they observed the vehicle traveling at speeds between 90–100 mph.
The situation escalated when the vehicle began traveling the wrong way—driving eastbound in the westbound lanes—still without lights. Officers activated emergency lights and sirens to intercept the vehicle before it could cause further harm. The driver continued to swerve across the roadway before veering onto the shoulder and striking a TxDOT "Do Not Enter" sign.
Upon investigating the vehicle, officers discovered several suspicious pyrotechnic devices. The items were heavily modified, wrapped in black electrical tape, and featured exposed fuses and pull rings.
Due to the volatile nature of the materials, the Fort Worth Police Department Bomb Squad was requested. Using portable X-ray equipment, technicians determined that one of the devices was designed as a projectile weapon containing an explosive charge. Under Texas Penal Code 46.05, the item was classified as a prohibited weapon.
The driver admitted to constructing the devices using components from an air soft gun and stated the device contained BB projectiles and fireworks.
The driver was taken into custody and is currently facing the following charges:
-Reckless Driving
-Prohibited Weapon
The Lakeside Police Department remains committed to the safety of our community and appreciates the assistance of the Fort Worth Fire Department Bomb Squad in resolving this dangerous situation
