DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - I'm convinced the Founding Fathers created the closest thing to a godly government on Earth which was: a government explicitly based on preventing humans from gaining power.
The entire democratic-parliamentary system and also the entire NGO setup is based on: "you wash my back; I'll wash yours" and on accumulating power. And they all end up in the same place - which is, an implosion due to build-up of inflexibility. And so the next empire is reborn professing that they've learned the lessons of the previous. History is recursive, not teleological.
