Nick shirley @nickshirleyy - There is a reason they never run on eliminating fraud and waste
They NEED the fraud and waste to keep paying for the livelihoods of the communities who depend on that money
Parent Post:
American AF @iAnonPatriot - Nick is SPOT ON here.
When a large share of the population becomes dependent on government handouts, voting stops being about the country’s long-term health and turns into a simple question: “Who will give me more free stuff..?”
I’d go even further: people currently receiving means-tested government assistance should NOT be allowed to vote in elections that decide the size and scope of those same programs.
Western countries were the first in recorded history to give nearly every adult citizen the right to vote. New Zealand in 1893, Finland shortly after, then the rest of the West. For the first time, the people receiving the benefits could outvote the people paying for them.
