Their high speed rail project struck ground in 2015 and today, 11 years and 15 billion dollars later, they have zero miles of operational track and they project another 231 billion will be needed to finish the project sometime after 2033. Japan took 5 years and 5 months for a line of roughly equivalent size for far less. And if you are daft enough to suggest California's issues are not the direct result of incalculable levels of political fraud, you have a career in buying bridges. I'm sure there is some fraud in Wyoming, but comparing its levels to California is pond ripple to tidal wave. And when Nick plays a major role in uncovering the biggest tax fraud in Minnesota's history, the proof in the disparity between frauds is truly lying on your head.
Or take New York City alone as another example example, which has seen the gluttonous, tape worm expansion of a tax wasting administrative and welfare state to leviathan proportions. Not only were we paced to spend 12 billion dollars on non-citizens over just 5 years, providing them with free hotels, daily meals, room and board, in a totally unworkable combination of open borders with a welfare state, but we have seen the deficit, owed directly to wasteful and fraudulent public spending grow steadily without an end in sight.
A few passing NYC statistics show, without question, that a comparison of NY with red states is not even apples to oranges, it's legos to interplanetary systems. NYC alone accounts for over 13,000 non-profit establishments comprising nearly 18% of the city's total workforce. More than 78% of NYC non-profits receive federal, state, or local tax-dollar funding. City spending on outsourced non-profit vendor contracts has climbed steeply, with social service portfolios alone scaling up past $7.2 BILLION. And every single oversight body worth its salt, notes that while these organizations manage billions in public funds, structural transparency and rapid tracking of malfeasance remain outlandishly limited due to the independent vendor structure. This is not a bug. This is a feature.
And these are isolated examples from two states.
So let me state this a bit differently. Nick, as any rational journalist would, is going after the most egregious examples of tax fraud known to mankind. That those frauds are being perpetuated in blue states is what we call "incidental", and to hold otherwise would be like suggesting a journalist seeking to expose the causes behind rampant firearm homicide rates in the United States is somehow "racist" for exposing that the epicenters of murder exist in communities filled predominantly with persons of color.
