DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - There are 2 major groups of activists, the far-left and the "democracy" types. I'm doing far-left for now. Tax dollar support of the "democracy" types is much more well-documented. But the far-left activists do benefit from structural support.

DataRepublican (small r) @DataRepublican - There are tons of those little "independent media" outlets that are supported by left-wing NGOs (or foreign governments).
When you hear an academic discuss so-called independent media in another country, they are almost never talking about private enterprise. They're talking about foreign funded media.
