President Biden Remarks on Democracy
"We must be honest with each other and with ourselves," said President Biden, continuing, "Too much of what's happening in our country today is not normal. Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic." ("MAGA" is short for the 2016 Trump campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again.") His remarks came as he spoke on democracy and "the soul of the nation," from Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The president stressed the importance of upholding democracy for all, and asked the nation "to come together, unite behind the single purpose of defending our democracy, regardless of your ideology."
