Saint Adaugoijele @JustAdaugoijele - The Saint that Padre Pio prayed to everyday
Although they were born nine years apart and never met in person,Padre Pio (1887-1968)and Saint Gemma Galgani (1878-1903)shared an extraordinary mystical path marked by striking similarities. From a young age, both experienced profound supernatural phenomena: apparitions of Christ and the Virgin Mary, heavenly visions, communicating with their guardian angels and intense spiritual attacks from the devil..
During his novitiate,Padre Pio went through powerful mystical experiences and found in Gemma a true spiritual reference point, someone who helped him understand, the supernatural realities he was living.
Like her,he believed he was called to suffer for the conversion of sinners, and both lived a deeply interior life centered on surrender to God's will.
Their connection was not merely devotional. For Padre Pio,Gemma became a spiritual mirror . In over 50 of his letters ,he echoes her words almost exactly. In one letter to her spiritual director,he request her writings: I would like to read the booklets tilted Letters and Ecstasies of the servant of God Gemma Galgani
,and the other one titled The Happy Hour;"He referred to her as the "the great saint " and frequently encouraged his spiritual children to to turn to her .
According to several testimonies , Padre Pio prayed to Saint Gemma daily and even receive apparitions of her after her death.
Despite their extraordinary spiritual gifts, both longed for a simple , ordinary life.
Gemma once wrote to her confessor ,"I pray a lot that Jesus places me on an ordinary path."
"Padre Pio similarly wrote:
"I do not value my extraordinary state, and for this reason,I keep asking Jesus to guide me along the ordinary path of all souls"
They bought received the stigmata-visible signs of Christ Passion on their hands, feet, side, and even marks of the crown of throne and scourging. They also experienced the mystical pain of divine love, described as a burning fire in the chest.
This spiritual closeness in suffering ,prayer and divine love forms a real and living expression of the communion of Saints .
Sts.Padre Pio and Gemma Galgani,
