But where is their compassion?
Where is their compassion for the people they put at risk?
For the laws they knowingly violate?
For the victims of crimes they commit?
For the families whose lives are permanently changed?
Why do we treat illegal immigrants as though they have no agency, no choices and no responsibility of their own?
Compassion should not mean excusing choices.
Humanity should not mean eliminating accountability.
