They Shall Not See Dawn, Charles Lachman
After Germany's surrender in May 1945, agents of the US Army's Counter Intelligence Corps were sent to find senior Nazis in hiding before they could escape or regroup. Charles Lachman recounts the work of this unit of college students, linguists, draftees, and refugees, and their pursuit of Gestapo chief Ernst Kaltenbrunner, propagandist Julius Streicher, and slave labor administrator Robert Ley, all of whom were captured and tried at Nuremberg. Lachman is the author of five narrative nonfiction books, including the national bestseller Codename Nemo, and is executive producer of Inside Edition.
