White House Press Pool Reports @WHPressPool - First Lady pool #3 - Schoolchildren
First Lady Melania Trump and Madame Peng Liyuan emerged at 12:09 am to greet schoolchildren standing on the steps of the entrance.
About 36 local students ages 8-15 from the Hope Chinese School dressed in blue and white waved American and Chinese flags and sang a performance.
The group, led by their choir director performed two songs, one in both Chinese and English.
The First Lady smiled at Madame Peng Liyuan during the performance and applauded and said, “Bravo!” after each song.
At one point Madame Peng sang along with the children, smiling broadly and clapping her hands.
The pair approached the children after the performance and spoke softly with them for a few minutes out of earshot of the pool
“Thank you Mrs Trump!” The children concluded.
After posing for several photos with the school group the pair exited the museum at 12:18 pm.
Pool is not traveling back with the First Lady so this will be the final report.
Special thanks to Emily Goodin of the New York Post for the pooling assistance.
