@NNSYNews recognized 140 graduates from its 2026 apprentice program during an Oct. 6 graduation and awards ceremony at the Harrison Opera House in Norfolk.
After completing four years of training, these new professionals are ready to support NNSY’s critical mission: maintaining and modernizing U.S. Navy ships.

Did you know? In domestic disaster response, civilian agencies lead the way. When a natural disaster strikes, local and state first responders are the primary line of support. When needed, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (@fema) coordinates the federal response.
Through Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA), #USNORTHCOM stands ready to assist lead federal agencies when military capabilities are specifically requested and approved by the Secretary of War.
USNORTHCOM's role is strictly to provide unique capabilities—such as heavy-lift aviation, search and rescue, logistics coordination, and temporary medical support—to save lives, prevent human suffering, and protect critical infrastructure.
While we have not been tasked to deploy forces, our planning cells, regional Defense Coordinating Officers (DCOs), and component commands are actively tracking storm tracks and synchronizing with partners.
