Davis Winne and Benjamin Davis Longyear were friends growing up in the Catskills.
2 years apart.
Lived right next to each other on huge farms.
Davis married Benjamin’s sister, Angeline.
Both Davis and Benjamin shared the same uncles: Jacob Longyear and Petrus Longyear.
Both Jacob and Petrus were brothers and around the same age and sometime around the age of 50-60 they moved out to Michigan. Grass Lake area.
Their mother was Annatje Winne.
Petrus grandson was John Munro Longyear and John formed a mining company with Fred Ayer. George Patton’s wife’s’ father.
John M Longyear and Fred Ayer opened up mining in the most northern part of Norway in Svalbard and the town of Longyearbyen is now named after him which is where the seed vault is located.
Later in life, John M Longyears daughter, Helen, was a bridesmaid at George Patton’s wedding.
Now… what are the odds that Benjamin Davis Wilson (wife has the same name as Benjamin Davis Longyear’s wife) is connected to Fred Ayer and the Longyears and he is all the way out in Los Angeles and his grandson just happens to be George Patton and a Longyear from the Catskills is the bridesmaid at the wedding?
