White House Press Pool Reports @WHPressPool - 🚁 In-town pool report #7 more from departure The president emerged from the White House at 5:04 accompanied by former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson. He took questions and then the two men were joined by Randy Levine, president of the New York Yankees. They walked to Marine One, boarded and lift-off was at 5:16. Quotes: On the trip to Syracuse and Tyson: “I've been his fan for a long time. We've been friends for a long time. Iron Mike, nobody like him…He was a champ. He was a real champ. People were afraid to fight him. They were afraid to fight him. He was something special. So he's going with us to Syracuse and we're fighting for a great gentleman, Bruce Blakeman, he and a couple of congressmen. And we think we have a chance at the Congress too; also, the two. And we'll have a good time. We have a big audience. We've been sold out at every arena… Every single arena, we have a line waiting trying to get in. It's been great. And they'll be happy to see Mike.” On his appointment of Katie Zacharia as his press secretary: “She's a great person. So that's right. Katie is going to be the press secretary. She's a friend of most of you. I know she likes people. She likes all of you actually. I don't know if that's good or bad, but we just hired a new press secretary and she's going to be, I think, terrific.”
