The VP’s motorcade arrived at the Hamilton County Board of Elections in Norwood at 12.30pm. Some kids were watching and shouting in a playground as we passed.
Dozens of people were casting ballots in the early voting centre, a low room with fluorescent lights and red white and blue voting booths. An advance staffer repeated ‘no questions’ at least a dozen times, citing the need to leave other voters undisturbed, but said the VP would gaggle at the airport.
Vance entered at 12.32 and presented what appeared to be some voter ID at the front desk. A female official asked him his name and he said ‘James David Vance.’ He then asked the official: ‘Busy?’ and chatted for a couple of minutes while he was presented with his midterms ballot.
Another official led him to a booth where he said ‘sorry guys, nobody look at my ballot’ and prepared to fill it in. He had a brief exchange with a local reporter after asking if they had already voted (the reporter said they were voting on election day) and said again ‘can you see who I’m voting for’ to which the same reporter said ‘we kinda know’. Vance chuckled and said ‘yeah but I don’t want you to know which judges I’m voting for’
After spending some five minutes at the booth the VP fed his ballot papers into a voting machine. There was a brief round of applause from staff, as he said ‘thank you all’ and left. Pool saw him climbing into his vehicle.
Motorcade is now rolling for airport.

The VP’s motorcade stopped at the Vance family home in the leafy outskirts of Cincinnati at 11.35am. Again, Atlas the dog was seen being led inside but pool couldn’t see any Vance humans entering. Tv pool though later saw the VP throwing a ball for one of the kids. Staff were seen rolling some kids’ and adults’ bikes up the driveway. There was a heavy presence of Secret Service in the road.
The motorcade rolled at 12.19pm, pool saw the vehicles but didn’t lay eyes on VP inside. The VP’s office asked pool to hold off reporting of the entire movement until it was completed.
In the yard of a house opposite the Vance residence were signs for former GOP senator Sherrod Brown, who is running against the Trump-backed Sen. Jon Husted; Amy Acton, a Democrat who is running for Ohio governor against Republican Vivek Ramaswamy; and Greg Landsman, a Democratic Ohio congressman
