MEMORANDUM FOR DISTRIBUTION
SUBJECT: Exercising Your Civic Right to Vote and Voting Resources
SEP 30 2026
As upcoming election dates approach, this memorandum serves to remind all personnel, military Service Members, and civilian employees of the fundamental importance of participating in the democratic process. The constitutional liberties we safeguard each day are anchored in our democratic traditions and the right of every citizen to cast a ballot. Voting is both a cherished right and an essential civic responsibility. All personnel are encouraged to plan, confirm eligibility, and make their voices heard.
State election deadlines and absentee submission cutoffs arrive quickly, particularly for personnel assigned away from their home voting jurisdictions. Members are encouraged to take the following proactive steps:
* Confirm Registration: Verify voter registration status in your state of legal residence immediately.
* Submit Absentee Requests Early: If voting absentee, submit a Federal Post Card Application without delay.
* Monitor Deadlines: Review specific state requirements and allow ample time for postal delivery.
* Return Ballots Promptly: Complete and post absentee ballots as soon as received to guarantee timely receipt and tabulation. Official, nonpartisan assistance is available through several verified programs:
* Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP): The primary Department of War portal for Service Members, eligible family members, and overseas citizens. Provides state- by-state voter guides, absentee request forms, and the backup Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot via plain-text reference:
