“AfriForum launches comprehensive campaign against Expropriation Bill”https://youtube.com/watch?v=bXqZtqnDd7c [Embed]AfriForum launched a comprehensive campaign against the Expropriation Bill that threatens private property rights, with a local, national and international component.
Nationally, it involves a manifesto signed by 13 organisations opposing the Bill. AfriForum’s legal team also wrote a letter to the President, which highlights the Bill’s unconstitutionality and dangers and on that basis requests the president to refer the bill back to the legislature and that it be referred to the Constitutional Court.
At local level, AfriForum is going to mobilize its branches to write to their provincial governments, demanding that they reject the Bill. As part of the international component of the campaign, AfriForum will address letters to the embassies, which request that they inform their home countries of the threat to private property rights in South Africa. AfriForum will also inform the network of contacts that has been built up abroad about the dangers of the Expropriation Bill.
AfriForum now urges our members and the public to also put their name behind this manifesto by visiting: www.onteiening.co.za/en/.
