>Telling someone to sit straight vs telling someone to go to the gym to build up his posture are both advices for the same thing, but with different degrees of care.
>In one case, you only care about the person's posture insofar as it bothers you to see them, and a temporary painful fix resolves the matter for you, while the other advice is concerned with the other person's quality of life and informs them of one possible way to improve it.
I understand the analogy and I agree that fully resolving an issue is of course better than just a temporary fix. but I don't understand how it relates to what we have been talking about

>I guess what made your reaction feel kind of mean to me was that you were slightly too emphatic and long winded compared to what would seem like a calm and collected reaction to me (e.g. simply telling me to be careful with that kind of short term trading in a way that's jokey and not too serious and in a single sentence)
I don't remember what I said, but in theory it should not matter what I say or how I say it, because you should be able to have an objective view about it (either it's dumb, or wrong, or meant as an insult, or not)

>There's deeper reasons for his emotional reactions to specific forms of criticism, which he will eventually find out when he gets to the point of deconstructing every emotional reaction.
But in order to that he first needs to first be aware of it. how can he deconstruct anything if he has no will or desire to do it?
