What you see it's all there is. The most you don't know about stuff because they don't tell you about them, or just there is no way of knowing about everything. The rest is sheer incompetency because by large people are untalented and/or lazy. There are some malice of course, but there are no 5d chess moves.
Good example is this Ukro-Russian war. Some people are saying that:
