alien covenant was basically ridley scott (who is completely useless at this point I'm sorry but the man is the joe biden of directors except unlike joe he's STILL going) trying to return to the formula of the first few Alien movies after low IQ normies didn't like Prometheus because it was too, like, weird and stuff (anything more complex or nuanced than "big scary monster kills people violently" is too much for them to handle). my truth is that Prometheus was a great movie (with flaws yes) that took the most interesting aspects of the original (atmosphere, aesthetics, philosophical themes) and expanded upon them, instead of making Alien 2: Alien Again: The Rehashing: Commercial Success Boogaloo (which is what every other sequel had been up until then). So what we got with Covenant was a little of the Prometheus approach (the only good parts of the movie imo) and a lot of Aliens style action, Hollywood tropes straight out of a B movie, and the script unnecessarily answering questions and dispelling mysteries that gave the franchise a large part of its appeal. This is made worse by the fact that it was directed by Scott himself unlike the 80s and 90s slop-sequels which could've been forgiven to some degree due to being purely commercial projects demanded by the studio. There are no excuses that can be made for Covenant being as bad as it is

>Did you see the movie already? Because they do be doing that.
No I didn't and that's kind of the point... from the moment the movie starts you can pretty much guess what's coming next the whole time... amusingly they turned Deadpool movies into something that's not the least bit subversive or shocking
