I think the war on drugs, regardless of how effective or not it's been (which is the only aspect of it people ever talk about), is a great example of the disgusting cynicism in contemporary western (and not so western) society. Politicians and really any public figure love to ramble on about how terrible drugs are, how they kill young people, how they wreck families, and so on and so forth. But then when a judge gets hold of someone involved in trafficking they get a sentence of like 2-3 years seemingly so that they can get back to business ASAP. That kind of hypocrisy is vomit inducing. Of course the alternative to the war on drugs is to just legalize everything and stop caring and essentially provide yet another form of state sponsored euthanasia. So much talk about helping the disadvantaged and fairness and equity and such and so much TECHNOLOGY and ENLIGHTENMENT and yet what's actually happening is that people are being left behind at such a high rate we may as well be back in the middle ages lol. Except for Singapore, Singapore is living in the future. The cars fly and the niggers stay in jail
