Chances are that actually going to court is pretty slim. I think it is more likely that we get contacted that we host illegal content and we should remove it (and we'll comply ofc, it would be treated as if a user reported illegal content).
The social pressure is more problematic and the press we get.
8chan went down last year not because of a legal consequence of the mass shootings but because everyone around them crapped their pants and tried to disassociate themselves from 8chan. So no more CloudFlare or other DDoS mitigation.
Another problem of 8chan that they gained notoriety, infamy throughout the years. And they get into articles as extremist terrorist supporters.

Endchan has no such resources as 8chan's staff has. Our imageboard runs thanks to the good will of a user who donated server space and resources. Odilitime does his administrative role out of kindness of his heart and hobby. We, globals, are just users, who like to see Endchan online and use it in the future as we use it now.
We also want to be a place where the users can express themselves freely with preserving their anonymity, but without the notoriety. Not letting legally risky content to swamp us too much is a way to ensure that.
Last year due to the Oslo shooter we got some media exposure. Moreover we also got into a report of the American Homeland Security. Ofc if any of them made the effort and browse our site they would see we are harmless, but this is the kind of negative attention we don't need.
We enjoy freedom and we are all for freedom of speech but we aren't here to fight the system, go against the grain and the societal norms for the sake of doing it. We want to know this place is secure online, it is here for anyone who wants to post from all over the world, especially for those who can't speak freely in their own country (be it legal or social pressure).

This is how I see it right now. Others from the staff might have other views and opinions, but that's just natural. Ofc I'm not all knowing either so it can happen I'm factually wrong in minor details.

Yeah, me too. But instead every couple of days I have to ponder on borderline cases if I delete them or not. And some idiots always like to push the goal line further. If I allowed X questionable content then maybe I'll allow X+1. And it is hard to be consistent.

There are many comments here with banter which I really like to reply with banter for example I really want to tell him >>7233 that he's a pidor but I'm here in official capacity, so I'm just ignoring those.
