While the character design is what it is, this is way too combat oriented and too well animated for that element to have much meaning. The cover image is just bait at most. Maybe the mc could be said to be the mirror of a tomboy, but it's not like the character type is anything new. Just take the regular fighting girl who behaves like a boy and make her an actual boy and it's this.
