In other words, they aren't related to Lincoln, nor are they his daughters.
Otherwise, why would they agree to take care of more daughters if even Lincoln can't take care of them now?

Rather, they're doing a favor for the mothers who are their friends.

As for the legal issue they’re involved in? Well, it seems to be open to interpretation for the time being.
