I've been bunch of interesting movie suggestions from different sources lately. Here are a couple that have led me to some good (and some not so good) movies that I've never seen before. For example, movies by budget:

I like perusing that for movies that didn't cost much on but earned a ton. That's often an indication that there's something worth checking out there. For example, Dr. Strangelove, Carrie, and Taxi Driver cost under $2M each. Hellraiser (remember Pinhead?) only $1M. Evil Dead, the crazy awesome horror flick with Bruce Campbell and a chainsaw on his arm that helped inspire Id Software's Doom game - only $375K.

en.wikipedia.org and

are also pretty good.
Check out Ireland's list of banned movies. Lol.
Another interesting one is filmsite.org's Top 100 lists organized by year. 1977, for example, includes Airport 77 "I picked a bad day to stop snorting cocaine." "Excuse me, do you speak Jive?", Annie Hall, Eraserhead, High Anxiety, and a number of foreign films.
Their selection is all over the place, from mainstream to cult and underground. Deep Throat and Deliverance are on the list for 1972, along with Fritz the Cat and Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex* *but were afraid to ask.
