Some weird typical American thing where low lifes need to project power of over people who they percieve are lower than them because America doesn't have an actual hierarchy of control... Or rather.... America has a financial hierarchy and a class system. But everyone percieves themselves as rich and tries to be rich. Thus, the class based hierarchy is never truly revealed to common people.
