I think it's best to wait to the appointment exact work will determine the treatment required. For most appointment a check-up and clean is mostly what is done with some other work depending on the time. Urgent issues causing pain can be dealt with then if it takes priority.
Just be clear at the start of the appointment as you have already done that you're paying for everything without private health insurance.
