I also saw a thing go viral on Jap twitter where a bar owner went on a rant about how if you're going to come to Japan, you should at least learn some fucking Japanese after a tourist couple came into his bar expecting him to accommodate them in English. And there were unironically cucked Japs in the replies who were like "Well you're in the wrong because English is the language of the world so you are in the wrong for not accommodating English speakers!
I would feel bad for you, but from my perspective I want to see a swift resolution to the tourist problem.

Now that said, English IS the global language, and America DOES make attempts at a significant amount of linguistic accommodation, especially in the tourism industry. Unironically, here in AZ one of the largest demands for Chinese/Japanese/Korean language is in the tourist sector for the Grand Canyon, and other parts of the state. But yeah, it's shitty for some random small bar owner to be expected to know English, for sure.
You wouldn't feel bad for me, cut the lies. If anything I'm going to sit back and laugh when you yourself are locked out of half the country just because they'll default assume you're a tourist, even if you get temporary to permanent residence.

It's one thing to find people to go hang out at an arcade with, but it's difficult to meet people where your hobby centers around an activity that can be done solo, in your room, in your boxers you haven't washed in a week.
Like think about it, how many greasy nerds you've played video games with in the past have you actually had the opportunity to go out and enjoy a nice lunch with?
I can literally count on two hands the number personally.
It's not impossible to make close friends that way, it's just not the ideal route. And you know this.
