I agree she's not cynical, maybe just a tad unaware and naive, which I guess can also be endearing up to a point.
I might be overanalyzing, but part of it could be some sort of autistic trait. idk, some auties seem to be insistently looking for an identity and when they find it they stick to it up to the smallest detail, and to other people it may look contrived even if it's not.
