Those devious soap companies sponsor those types of televised plays and pay hackney writers to come up with a steady stream of ridiculous nonsense that appeals to housewives and widows like your grandmother. They use clever techniques to keep the story going on and on, never quite reaching a climax or satisfying conclusion and the drama hooks the spinster audience into regularly watching this tripe. Its all a way to get the sponsor's message "buy our soap" accompanied by the catchy jingle, heard by the women so they buy it next time they are in the grocery store. Its reprehensible really, these advertising agencies, the way they work. Be a good man and let the old dear know that Pied Piper Sherry is on special in all of my cellars this week.
