Mods/staff "hiding" their identity helps running the board. Some of the users (just a couple actually) are identity obsessed and can go on and on about these personas created on the boards. It's really distracting from normal use of the board and just creates useless, empty drama, destroys any hobbies and comfiness. I see it here, or on baaa2, saw it on 9chan too. On larger chans and boards it can go without disturbing the normal use much (liek Krautchan/int had about 1000 unique posters per day back around 2015, and despite all the personas most could be ignored pretty easily).
Besides not just users deserve anonymity but staff too. Especially since on these chans they tend to be users as well.
