I don't know what is up with me, I haven't changed brake pads in my disc brakes EVER.
Not my mtb nr 1 (frame ded) not my road bike, not my mtb mr 2 (have it only since half a year or so).
I have changed them once in my very old mtb which had rims.

I'm not some braking wizard, it is not like you can brake a bike with engine but I also very rarely break hard.
